How to get to Carrara

Motorway

Take the A12 (Genoa-Livorno) motorway, leaving at the Carrara exit, from which you reach the city centre in just a few minutes. Carrara is an hour by car from Florence and from Genoa and 30 minutes from Pisa. It is about two hours’ drive from Milan and about four from Rome.

By rail

The nearest station is Carrara-Avenza from which the centre can be reached by bus (L72,L75, L52; tickets can be purchased at the station bar) or taxi. Massa Central station is about 15 km from the centre of Carrara.

By air (Pisa Airport – Carrara Transfer)

The nearest airport to Carrara is at Pisa, the Galileo Galilei airport (about 50 km away). Pisa Airport and Pisa Central Station are connected by the Pisa Mover service.  This high frequency transport system, controlled by passengers, takes the five minutes from Galileo Galilei Airport to Pisa Central railway station, where trains depart for Carrara-Avenza every 20 minutes.  You can find a train timetable at: www.trenitalia.com

Massa Central station is about 15 km from the centre of Carrara.
